Its goal is to provide relief from the extreme symptoms and stress of an illness to improve quality of life for both the patient and his or her family and loved ones.

Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people suffering from a serious illness. Its goal is to provide relief from the extreme symptoms and stress of an illness to improve quality of life for both the patient and his or her family and loved ones.

At Corus Health, patients work with an interdisciplinary team from within our wide network of healthcare services. Whether healthcare professionals, social workers, spiritual counselors, pharmacists, aides or others, together they can identify and treat the discomforts that, in most cases, lead to hospitalization. Through regular and frequent visits with patients and their families to establish goals and provide both support for and open communication about the patient’s progress, they can make better decisions that often lead to a patient’s recovery and ultimately a better quality of life.

Because pain can inhibit participation in daily activities and thus make people appear to need more assistance than they would if their pain was under control, our nurses work closely with your primary care physician and referring specialists to provide the best possible palliative care. This includes developing a pain management program that works for you and your family, often combining long and short-acting medications to help you reach the level of comfort you desire.

We have a cardiologist and a pulmonologist on staff to assist with the most complicated symptoms, while being able to avoid most hospitalizations. We provide 24/7 EMT, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy coverage to manage the symptoms that can occur from chronic conditions. Our palliative care team provides a hospital at home approach that creates a better quality of life.
